To match the youthful, celebrity-crush style of the article, I wanted to emulate the early 2000's teen scrapbook aesthetic, with cut-out magazine photos and love hearts scribbled in the margins. I experimented with screen tones to add more detail to the monochrome colour palette, and chose images specifically referenced in the article to tie them together.
I also drew an extra photo clipping for the facing page, so that the text could feel more integrated with the illustration.
